The New York Knicks are currently one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now after they took down the Orlando Magic for their 3rd win of the season against them (yes, they've played them 3 times already, and play them a 4th in two weeks) 108-85. The New York Knicks have now won 6 straight games and are 21-10 after starting the season 5-6.
What I valued about this game was that the Magic attempted to be more physical than the Knicks, and the two Knicks who rose to the occasion were Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson. They thrive in these situations. Jalen Suggs plays with a physical approach, sometimes behaving as if the rules don't apply to him. Nonetheless, Jalen Brunson, who finished the game with 9 assists, matched their physicality. Moreover, we've been looking forward to the Knicks winning in various ways this season, and they a
re proving they can do just that. Despite shooting 4-15 from 3-point range (26.7%) and missing 10 free throws, they still defeated the Magic by 27 points. Josh Hart had an outstanding game with 23 PTS, 13 REB, 2 STL. Someone on my postgame show mentioned that Josh Hart may not score 40 like the other starters, but he can influence the game as if he were scoring 40 points. (I loved that)
We also saw Tom Thibodeau expand the rotation again back to 9 while playing Landry Shamet. Shamet played extremely well in the 1st half, providing his outside shooting, fast breaks, and also finished the game with 2 steals.
The Knicks are now the 13th-ranked defense in the NBA, and that's a far cry from a few weeks ago. Mikal Bridges is a huge part of that, as he is showing you just how elite his defense is. He also had 2 steals for the Knicks as they had 10 total as a team.
